A morning drive ended in death: a Mazda ran off the road and collided with a tree
Female passenger died at the scene: police investigate fatal traffic accident
In the morning of 31 May 2026, at approximately 5:30, a fatal road traffic accident occurred in the settlement of Veselynove, Voznesensk district. This was reported by the Mykolaiv Region police.
According to preliminary data, the 30-year-old driver of a Mazda 323 near house 143 on Mozolevskyi Street lost control of the vehicle. The car then left the roadway and collided with a tree. As a result of the accident, a 41-year-old female passenger died at the scene from her injuries. The driver was hospitalized with injuries to a medical facility.
Police investigators have preliminarily classified the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by drivers, which caused the death of the victim. The article’s sanction provides for up to eight years of imprisonment. Law enforcement is currently establishing all circumstances and causes of this crash. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
