Parents were sleeping nearby: a guest molested a 10-year-old child at night

In Kyiv police detained a 47-year-old Kyiv resident suspected of lewd acts against a 10-year-old girl. This was reported on May 27, 2026 by the Kyiv region police.

A local resident contacted the Dniprovskyi Police Department of Kyiv, stating that his acquaintance had committed unlawful acts against his underage daughter. According to law enforcement, the day before the couple met the man and invited him home. After the meal the guest stayed overnight in the apartment. During the night, while the parents were sleeping, the suspect, according to the investigation, led the child into a room and began committing lewd acts against her. The girl managed to break free, return to her parents and lock herself in. She only dared to tell about what happened after the guest had left the apartment.

In less than an hour operatives established the man’s whereabouts and detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Dniprovskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of the capital, notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 156 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – committing lewd acts against a minor who has not reached 14 years of age. The article’s sanction provides for up to eight years of imprisonment.

Separately, juvenile police established that the child’s parents systematically abuse alcohol, and the girl was living in unsuitable conditions. Administrative protocols were drawn up against the couple under Art. 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (КУпАП). The child was removed from the family by social services.
