Residents of Korabelnyi sound the alarm over dangerous holes in the courtyards of apartment buildings

In the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv residents on May 26, 2026 report already about two dangerous asphalt sinkholes near residential buildings. One of them formed in the yard of an apartment building at O. Olzhych Street, 7-a, the other — near the building at Korabeliv Avenue, 5,

Local residents reported the new sinkhole at O. Olzhych Street, 7-a in the Facebook community “Contact Center at the Mykolaiv City Council”. According to them, the asphalt pavement in the yard of the apartment building has subsided, and soil erosion is visible beneath it.

To at least somewhat warn drivers and pedestrians about the danger, the hole was temporarily marked with makeshift items — branches, a car tire and warning tape. Such “protection” can hardly be called a safe solution, especially in a yard where residents, children and elderly people walk every day.

Another problem — the sinkhole near the building at Korabeliv Avenue, 5 which Korabeliv.Info had already written about earlier. According to locals, yesterday the road near the apartment building collapsed even more. The editorial office had already reported on this section in April: then near the 2nd entrance of the building the road surface was subsiding, and under the asphalt, residents said, a cavity had formed that is dangerous for vehicles and pedestrians.

After inspecting the sinkhole, as residents note, the authorities’ “responsible commission” filled the hole with sand. But, judging by the new collapse, the temporary method did not solve the problem. The asphalt continued to subside, and the risks for people and vehicles only increased.

At Korabeliv Avenue, 5 the situation has been ongoing for more than a month. As early as April 10, 2026 residents recorded the subsidence of the road surface near the second entrance, noting that a cavity had formed under the asphalt that could be growing daily.

Similar incidents in the Korabelnyi district have already become a painful systemic problem. Residents regularly contact the Contact Center at the Mykolaiv City Council, mark dangerous spots with makeshift means, wait for a response from the services, but often see only temporary solutions instead of full repairs.
