April 15 the Ministry of Defense reported that Ukraine is introducing a new model of conducting combat operations — drone-assault units that integrate air and ground drones with infantry units into a single system; the approach has already produced results in the south, where noticeable territory has been liberated since February.
The ministry explained that drone-assault units are being formed as an integrated combat tool, in which unmanned platforms operate in conjunction with infantry groups. Such an organization allows combining the capabilities of air and ground systems within a unified formation.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the use of these units in the south has already had a tangible effect: over the period since February, significant areas have been liberated there. The successes are attributed to the new tactics, which involve the integrated use of drones and infantry.
