Heat During Power Outages: Six Generators Delivered to Boiler Houses in Mykolaiv Region
Mykolaivoblteploenergo received equipment from partners in Poland and Germany
Some of the modular boiler houses in the Mykolaiv region will be able to operate autonomously during power outages. To make this possible, Mykolaivoblteploenerho received six generators from partners in Poland and Germany. The equipment will allow the boiler houses to continue supplying heat to residential buildings and critical infrastructure facilities.
The acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Heorhii Reshetilov, announced the aid in a post on facebook.com. Ensuring the boiler houses can operate autonomously is one of the region’s preparations for the heating season.
The equipment was provided by the following partners:
- The Polish foundation STAND WITH UKRAINE donated three generators with capacities of 157, 200 and 515 kW. The value of this aid is more than UAH 4.7 million.
- Germany’s Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) provided another three generators with capacities of 400, 550 and 750 kVA. They were delivered through the Mykolaiv Regional Development Agency. The German aid is worth €206,000.
“We are getting ready for winter. A key priority for Mykolaiv is decentralizing heat supply. We are currently completing the connection of modular boiler houses. The next important aspect is ensuring that these boiler houses can operate autonomously. We thank our partners in Poland and Germany. Some of the modular boiler houses will now be able to operate autonomously,” said Heorhii Reshetilov.
The region’s cooperation with THW on backup power continues. Before the latest equipment delivery, the following supplies were made:
- In April, the region received 27 generators with a capacity of 6 kVA for individual heating substations.
- Another 15 generators with capacities ranging from 6 to 66 kVA arrived in September.
Heorhii Reshetilov also reported that the connection of one of the modular boiler houses in Mykolaiv is nearing completion. These boiler houses are intended to keep the city supplied with heat if its main infrastructure is damaged.
The nationwide plan calls for the installation of 75 modular boiler houses with a combined capacity of more than 372 MW. They are to be installed in the following regions:
- Lviv;
- Kyiv;
- Mykolaiv;
- Sumy;
- Kharkiv.
The Government has also allocated UAH 3 billion from the reserve fund to install 216 modular boiler houses as part of preparations for the heating season.
In March, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated UAH 12.85 billion to prepare the regions for the next heating season. Of this amount, the Mykolaiv region is to receive UAH 280.7 million.
