Formaldehyde levels in Mykolaiv’s air exceeded the limit by up to 5.7 times
No exceedances of permissible concentrations were found for the other impurities tested
On some days during the last week of October 2026, the concentration of formaldehyde in the ambient air of Mykolaiv was 5.2–5.7 times higher than the average daily maximum permissible concentration.
These are the results of observations conducted from October 26–31, 2026, which the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology posted on its Facebook page. As for the other pollutants monitored, their concentrations did not exceed permissible levels during the week.
Urban air quality is monitored at four stationary observation stations located in different parts of Mykolaiv.
Experts note that formaldehyde has been the city’s main air pollutant for many years.
We previously reported:
- Dust, formaldehyde, and carbon monoxide exceeded permissible levels in Mykolaiv
- Formaldehyde levels in Mykolaiv’s air exceeded the norm by up to 6.6 times
- Mykolaiv ranked third among cities with the most polluted air in 2023
- Formaldehyde concentrations in Mykolaiv’s air exceed the norm by 2.5 times
- Because of trucks on city streets: Mykolaiv ranked among the leaders in formaldehyde emissions
