Heating, Food, and Warm Clothing: Mykolaiv Approves Winter Assistance for Homeless People
Assistance was also provided for other people facing difficult life circumstances
The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council has approved a plan for operating warming centers, hot meal services, and warm clothing distribution points during the autumn-winter season of 2026–2027. The assistance is intended for people experiencing homelessness and others facing difficult life circumstances.
Warming centers and warm clothing distribution points will operate when the average daily air temperature falls below minus 5 degrees. The decision lists the following addresses:
- 47 Kruhova St.;
- 83 Kovalska St.;
- 51-A Pivdenna St.;
- 8/4 Metalurhiv St.;
- 19-A Shevchenka St.;
- 1-B Ochakivska St., Vesniane village.
A hot meal service will also operate at 47 Kruhova St. Unlike the warming centers, it is scheduled to run throughout the entire autumn-winter season, regardless of the specified temperature threshold.
A site must also be prepared for a warming center for people experiencing homelessness in the square “Liberation of Mykolaiv from the German-Fascist Invaders”. The proposed location is on Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue, between Myru Avenue and Budivelnykiv Street. For now, the decision provides for preparing the site; it does not announce that the center is opening.
To let people know where they can get help, notices will be posted in places where they gather. Social outreach patrols will also operate in Mykolaiv, identifying people experiencing homelessness and informing them about the assistance available.
People identified during these patrols will receive first aid and medical examinations if needed.
