Mobilization and martial law set to be extended for another 90 days
The Verkhovna Rada plans to hold a vote on Monday, October 26
The Verkhovna Rada plans to vote on Monday, October 26, 2026, to extend martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days. People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak spoke about preparations for consideration of the matter.
If parliament supports the decision, the next period for both measures will run from October 31, 2026, to January 29, 2027. According to the lawmaker, this will be the 21st vote since the start of the full-scale war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must submit proposals to parliament to extend both measures. The procedure requires separate presidential decrees on martial law and general mobilization, which must be approved by MPs. The new periods will take effect only after the relevant laws are passed.
Martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine are extended every 90 days. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the previous decision in July 2026, extending both measures until October 31, 2026, when their current terms expire. The corresponding presidential decrees were numbered No. 596/2026 and No. 597/2026. Thus, the next vote is scheduled before the current term expires.
