An agricultural firm won a lawsuit against Russia: UAH 101.74 million for property seized in Zaporizhzhia
Compensation covers direct losses and profits the business failed to earn
The Commercial Court of Zaporizhzhia Region fully upheld the claims of Agro Alliance for compensation for losses caused by the occupation. The court ordered the Russian Federation, represented by its Prosecutor General’s Office, to pay UAH 101.74 million for lost property and lost profits. According to reyestr.court.gov.ua.
According to the court ruling, the company operated in the village of Kopani, Zaporizhzhia Region, growing grains, legumes, and oilseeds, as well as trading in grain. In early March 2022, armed Russian troops seized its premises, set up camp there, and took all its property.
After the seizure, the farmers could no longer access their base, equipment, or goods. As a result, the company lost the ability to continue its operations.
An appraiser calculated the losses in two categories:
- Direct losses — UAH 66.88 million.
- Lost profits — UAH 34.86 million.
The company was founded in 2000. Its founders were:
- Volodymyr Dudka.
- Oleh Romanenko.
- Nina Arshukova.
In Kherson Region, about 95% of farmers operating in areas of active hostilities within 20–30 kilometers of the frontline may skip the autumn sowing season this year. The reasons include constant attacks by Russian drones, the destruction of equipment, and the danger to workers.
