The telethon is getting an additional UAH 100 million despite a budget shortfall
The annual cost of content production is expected to rise to nearly 713 million
Nearly UAH 100 million in additional funding has been allocated for producing content for the United News telethon through the end of 2026. The funding is being increased amid a shortfall in the state budget.
In September, due to a lack of budget funds, the Cabinet of Ministers suspended capital expenditures. The restrictions even affected payments to contractors building protective structures for energy facilities. However, in October, the state enterprise “Multimedia Platform of Ukraine’s Foreign Broadcasting” continued transferring funds to producers of content for the telethon.
In particular, on October 6, the enterprise signed three agreements with TV channels worth a total of UAH 75.02 million. Another contract worth UAH 25 million is expected to be signed soon. Once it is concluded, the total cost of producing content for the telethon this year is expected to rise to nearly UAH 713 million.
The collaboration involves the following TV channels:
- “We Are Ukraine”;
- “SLM News”;
- “1+1”;
- “Inter”.
In total, from March 2022 to October 2026, around UAH 3.45 billion was allocated to producing content for the United News telethon and the Freedom marathon.
