6 October in the history of Mykolaiv combined sport, changes in power, life in the Korabelnyi district, a COVID anti-record and wartime events. And one well-known shipbuilding date that is often tied to this day, after checking, turned out to be a date in the old style.
6 October 2014: with Usyk participating they unveiled a plaque to a legend of Mykolaiv boxing
In Mykolaiv at the then Pravdy Street, 2-B, a memorial plaque was unveiled to the founder of the Mykolaiv boxing school, Oleh Hryhoriev. Oleksandr Usyk came to the ceremony; shortly before that he had won the WBO Inter-Continental title. Oleh Hryhoriev worked at the youth sports school (DYuSSh) for about 40 years, and among his trainees were dozens of winners and prize-winners of major competitions.
6 October 2016: a new head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration was introduced
On this day in Mykolaiv they introduced the new head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Oleksiy Savchenko. Among his first stated tasks were fighting corruption, creating a regional defense movement and a council of public organizations.
6 October 2017: “Nika-Tera” reported over 70 benches in the Korabelnyi district
The port “Nika-Tera” summed up its landscaping work in the Korabelnyi district: by that time the port workers, on their own and together with partners, had manufactured and installed more than 70 benches on Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue, in parks and near medical facilities. In the “White Acacia” park the company had also earlier launched free Wi-Fi.
6 October 2020: a COVID anti-record was recorded in Mykolaiv
As of the morning of 6 October 2020, 222 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Mykolaiv region, of which immediately 177 were in Mykolaiv. At that time this was the city’s anti-record since the start of the pandemic. During the day 6 people also died in the region.
6 October 2022: Iranian drones were shot down over the Mykolaiv region in two waves
On the night of 6 October 2022 air defence forces destroyed over the Mykolaiv region 7 out of 9 kamikaze drones “Shahed-136” shot down in the south. And already in the morning, on the approach from the sea to the region, air defence shot down another 2 “Shahed-136” and 1 “Mohajer-6”.

And on 6 October 1973 the Yom Kippur War began: the armies of Egypt and Syria attacked Israel on the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights.
