Offered a classmate homemade alcohol: two teenagers hospitalized in Mykolaiv region
In Pervomaisk, the boys' condition has been stabilized and there is no threat to their lives
In Pervomaisk on October 1, two 15-year-old teenagers were taken to the hospital on suspicion of alcohol poisoning. After medical care, their condition was stabilized; there is no threat to the boys’ lives.
According to preliminary findings, a teacher during class noticed unusual behavior in two students who had returned from a long break. Shortly afterward they began to feel worse, and he called an ambulance. Medical staff and school employees smelled alcohol on the boys.
The medics notified the Pervomaisk District Police Department about the hospitalization. Police officers who arrived at the school found that one of the teenagers had given a classmate an alcoholic drink. According to preliminary information, the boy had prepared this drink at home by himself.
Juvenile prevention officers spoke with both minors about the dangers of alcohol consumption. Administrative materials were drawn up against the parents of the boy who had treated his friend under Part 3 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses — failure to properly perform duties in raising children. They are planned to be forwarded to the Pervomaisk City District Court, which is to review the case and make a decision.
The police urge parents to monitor their children’s leisure activities and to explain to them the negative health and legal consequences that alcohol consumption can have.
If you witness minors consuming alcohol or being sold alcoholic beverages or tobacco products, report it by calling 102. You should also contact the police when teenagers are intoxicated in public or other places.
