If the train won’t make it, a bus will: Ukrzaliznytsia is testing combined routes
Transfers will be organized by railway staff, and the total cost of the trip will not change
From October 1 Ukrzaliznytsia is testing combined transportation on certain routes in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. Due to security risks, passengers will cover part of the route by train and the other part by bus, the company reports.
Bus services will be used if the threat to passengers prevents the train from reaching the origin or terminal station. Railway staff will organize transfers between modes of transport. Schedules will be coordinated with delays: the bus will wait for train passengers, and the train will wait for the bus.
The situation on these routes will be monitored by Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring centers. They will also control security risks along the routes.
Tickets for combined trips for the nearest dates can already be purchased in the Ukrzaliznytsia app. The company emphasizes: the new format will preserve access to the entire route, and its cost for passengers will remain unchanged.
