Military personnel and those who strengthened the defense of Mykolaiv were awarded
The defenders were wished strength and a return to their families
Servicemen, servicewomen and people who made a significant contribution to strengthening the defense of Mykolaiv were honored on the occasion of Defenders of Ukraine Day. The awards were presented by Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych. According to Telegram @mykolaivrada.
At the beginning of the ceremony, those present paid tribute with a minute of silence to the memory of those who died for Ukraine. The National Anthem of Ukraine was also performed.
During the awards ceremony, the mayor emphasized that the country’s independence was preserved and it was able to withstand Russian aggression thanks to the resilience, courage and heroism of thousands of Ukrainians. He recalled that before the full-scale invasion by the RF many of these people were civilians: they worked, raised children and planned their future. When the decisive moment came, they took up the defense of the country.
Oleksandr Senkevych thanked everyone who previously defended the state and continues to defend its independence, freedom and future. He expressed special gratitude to the people whose work to strengthen the city’s defenses helped Mykolaiv endure the hardest times.
Also joining the ceremony were:
- Heorhii Reshetilov — acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration;
- Anton Tabunshchyk — head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.
The leaders of Mykolaiv region wished the servicemen and servicewomen strength and the swiftest possible return to peaceful life alongside their families and loved ones.
