A NASAMS system and a package of missiles have bolstered Ukraine's air defenses

Ukraine received from the United States and Norway the surface-to-air missile system NASAMS and a package of missiles for it. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the arrival of the weapons after another massive attack by Russian forces on the night of September 29.

Ukrainian air defenses that night destroyed aerial targets, including ballistic missiles. The President stressed that because of the ongoing Russian strikes the country needs further deliveries of air defense systems.

After the nighttime attack, cleanup of the consequences continues in various regions. In Kyiv the depot of the “Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi” station, data and business centers, as well as residential buildings were damaged.

In the Odesa region an educational institution, a dormitory and two foreign vessels were damaged. Also hit were:

• Kyiv region;
• Dnipropetrovsk region;
• Kharkiv region;
• Sumy region;
• Donetsk region;
• Zaporizhzhia region;
• Zhytomyr region;
• Volyn region;
• Rivne region.

As a result of the strikes, energy facilities, substations, civilian enterprises and residential buildings in the regions were damaged.

Volodymyr Zelensky also thanked partners for strengthening Ukraine’s air defense:

“I am grateful to the American and Norwegian partners for the NASAMS system and the package of missiles for it. I am grateful to France and Germany for the package supporting our air defense these days, namely with missiles,” the president said.
