Rocket-propelled 'Shaheds' are shot down less effectively: interception rate — 57%

Ukrainian forces are currently destroying the majority of Russian drones. The overall effectiveness of countering drones was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address today, 28 September.

“The overall percentage of drones shot down as of today is 70%,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The situation with the rocket-propelled “Shaheds” is more complicated: their interception effectiveness is 57%.

“As for the rocket-propelled ones, unfortunately, it is less, unfortunately, significantly less than needed,” the president noted.

Ukraine is actively testing new means to intercept rocket drones. Some combat units are already using them, but some technical issues still require refinement.

“We are speeding up the developers. Every week there should be more concrete results of actual shoot-downs on the interception lines,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
