Five murders and as many rapes were recorded over six months in Mykolaiv District

In the first half of 2026 the police recorded intentional homicides, rapes and grievous bodily injuries in Mykolaiv district. The deputy chief of the Mykolaiv District Police Department, Vadym Alyamuzhny, reported on the state of lawfulness and public order for the six months during the session of the Mykolaiv District Council.

The official provided data on homicides and serious injuries:

During the reporting period there were five intentional homicides, five intentional grievous bodily injuries, of which three were cases of intentional grievous bodily injuries that resulted in death.

The district also recorded five rapes. According to Vadym Alyamuzhny, the perpetrators were identified in each case. The police also consider all homicides and grievous bodily injuries solved, reporting a 100% clearance rate for these types of crimes.

The number of serious and especially serious crimes decreased by 22.1% compared with the first half of 2025. The number of thefts fell by 24.7%, frauds by 11.7%, and drug crimes by 53.1%. The number of recorded cases of drug distribution decreased by 83.4%.

Overall, during the six months the district police units registered 16 170 reports and notifications of criminal offenses and other incidents. 1 158 of them were entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations, i.e. 7.2% of the total.

During this period suspects were notified in 249 criminal offenses. Of these, 199 crimes were registered in 2026. 194 people were brought to criminal responsibility, and another 18 persons were taken into custody.

Separately, in Mykolaiv region the number of crimes committed by minors in the first half of 2026 decreased by 36.6%: from 41 in the same period of the previous year to 26.
