Putin has not abandoned plans to seize Odesa, Kharkiv and Dnipro — Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York stated that the Russian leader Vladimir Putin has not abandoned intentions to seize Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and other cities of Ukraine.

According to the president, the Russian authorities seek to continue the war and expand the territory under their control. He emphasized that capturing the Donetsk region will not satisfy the Russian leader.

Volodymyr Zelensky said:

The Donetsk region is not enough for him. He wants more of our cities: Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and other Ukrainian cities.

The president also warned that Russia threatens not only Ukraine but international security as well. In his assessment, Russian aggression spreads war and instability beyond the country’s borders.

Volodymyr Zelensky called on the international community to jointly counter Russian aggression and to work for an end to the war.

Earlier more than 50 countries appealed to Russia calling on it to agree to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire, and to move to substantive negotiations for the sake of peace. The joint statement ahead of the UN Security Council meeting was released by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiha.
