Renault driver ran over two 14-year-old girls in the Lviv region: one was killed
The second injured person was hospitalized, the 50-year-old driver was detained
A fatal road accident occurred on 19 September at around 20:20 in the village of Butyny in Sheptytskyi Raion of Lviv Oblast. According to preliminary information from the Lviv Oblast Police, a 50-year-old driver of a Renault ran over two 14-year-old girls.
One victim died at the scene from her injuries. The second girl sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
Investigators and other relevant services are working at the scene of the accident. Law enforcement officers are determining all the circumstances of the incident. The driver was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — concerning the violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of a vehicle by a person operating the vehicle, if this caused the death of a victim. Procedural guidance is being provided by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
