An illegal clothing manufacturing operation producing garments under global brands was uncovered in Mykolaiv
Seized goods and equipment were valued at over 50 million hryvnias
In Mykolaiv an underground clothing production operation was manufacturing garments with logos of well-known global brands. During searches, detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine seized more than 420 thousand items of counterfeit products and equipment. The goods were sold in various regions of the country.

According to the investigation, the organizer rented warehouse premises in Mykolaiv and set up production workshops there. Almost 130 units of specialized equipment were used to manufacture the products.
Clothing with international brand logos was stored in warehouses and then sold in wholesale and retail batches. The products were sent to stores and retail outlets in various regions of Ukraine, including the “7th Kilometer” market in Odesa Oblast.
During the first searches, detectives found more than 60 thousand items of clothing already prepared for sale. An examination determined the amount of damage caused to the trademark owners.
The BES statement noted:
“The examination confirmed that as a result of the illegal use of trademarks, their rights holders suffered more than 11 million hryvnias in losses.”
Later, law enforcement again conducted searches in Mykolaiv and Odesa Oblast. There they additionally seized more than 360 thousand items of counterfeit products, as well as 28 units of equipment.
Among the seized goods were:
- sports shoes;
- underwear;
- headwear;
- socks;
- other textile products with logos of well-known international brands.
The Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine reported an overall assessment of the seized items:
“The value of the seized products and equipment amounts to more than 50 million hryvnias.”
The organizer of the production was notified of suspicion under part 3 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns the illegal use of trademarks that caused material damage on an especially large scale.
Investigators continue to identify all persons who may be involved in the manufacture, supply, and sale of counterfeit products.
