A Mykolaiv resident was preparing to murder an activist on orders from the FSB — the SBU detained him
The 19-year-old suspect had already been stalking the intended victim
A 19-year-old resident of Mykolaiv was detained by SBU officers on suspicion of preparing the murder of a well-known public activist and co‑founder of one of the volunteer battalions. According to the investigation, he received the order for the crime from a representative of the FSB.
In July 2026 the man established contact with the Russian intelligence service via Telegram. In the same messenger he posted messages supporting Nazi ideology. After receiving the task, the Mykolaiv resident began to track the routes and daily routine of the potential victim.
To prepare for the attack he retrieved from a pre-arranged cache a pistol with ammunition and a silencer. On 31 July 2026 the man went to a forest belt in the Vyshhorod District of Kyiv Oblast, where he picked up the motorcycle left for him.
According to the investigation, on the morning of 1 August 2026 the suspect planned to shoot the activist while he was walking his dog. However, the plan was not carried out — SBU officers detained him.
Procedural supervision in the case is carried out by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The detainee has been notified of suspicion on three counts:
- high treason;
- preparation for premeditated murder for hire;
- illegal handling of weapons.
The man is in custody. If found guilty, he may face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
