Odesa has become the fifth city in Ukraine with a 5G test network

A technical launch of the mobile 5G network took place in Odesa as part of the nationwide testing of fifth-generation technology. This was reported by Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Odesa became the fifth city where 5G is being tested. The following have already joined the project:

• Lviv;
• Borodianka;
• Kharkiv;
• Kyiv.

The testing is being conducted by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine together with mobile network operators. During the experiment they are checking the network’s operation under Ukrainian conditions and preparing the infrastructure for further deployment of the technology after the end of martial law.

It is expected that the fifth-generation network will enable more efficient distribution of load between mobile networks and expand the capabilities of digital services.

Earlier, Kyiv joined the pilot project to launch 5G in Ukraine. At the same time, the source noted that the next city for testing the new network should be Odesa.
