Healthcare facilities in the Mykolaiv region received a new batch of human papillomavirus vaccine — 1030 doses of the “Gardasil 9” product. The vaccine has already been allocated and delivered to the region’s health care institutions.

The arrival of the product was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention. They noted that from the moment of receipt until transfer to medical institutions, the vaccine was stored and transported in compliance with cold chain requirements.

In specially equipped rooms the product is stored in refrigerators and the temperature is continuously monitored. This regime is necessary to preserve the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety. After receipt, the region’s medical institutions must continue to follow the established storage requirements.

“Gardasil 9” is intended for vaccinating girls aged 12–13 years. The product is used to prevent infection caused by the human papillomavirus. This infection can lead to illnesses, including the development of cervical cancer.

From 2026, HPV vaccination was included in the updated National Immunization Schedule of Ukraine. Vaccination of girls aged 12–13 years under the state program is free of charge.

Free HPV vaccination for girls of this age has already begun in Mykolaiv as well.
