In Ukraine, a new wage system for education workers will take effect from September 1. Teachers’ base salaries will be increased by another 20%. This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.

At the beginning of 2026, education workers’ salaries already increased by 30%. The next step will be the government’s abandonment of the Unified Tariff Scale. Instead, the salary level will be determined taking into account the position and a base figure — the average wage in Ukraine’s economy.

“From September 1 teachers’ salaries will rise by another 20%,” said Serhiy Koretskyi.

The updated pay model will apply to employees of schools, higher education institutions, inclusive resource centers, and state educational institutions.

For the preschool, extracurricular, and vocational-technical education sectors, the Cabinet of Ministers recommends that local self-government bodies also review payments to teachers with a view to increasing them.

Some additional payments will remain in effect. Teachers who work in person in front-line areas will continue to receive an allowance of 2600 UAH. College teachers who train specialists for the defense industry, energy sector, mechanical engineering and metalworking will be paid a supplement equal to 10% of the base salary.
