Food products worth more than UAH 3.5 million went missing from the warehouse of a military unit in the Mykolaiv region

The State Bureau of Investigation has completed the pre-trial investigation into the former head of the warehouse of the material and technical support platoon of one of the military units in the Mykolaiv region. The indictment in the case has already been submitted to court.

The investigation holds that the serviceman improperly performed his duties and failed to ensure proper storage of food supplies. As a result, canned goods, vegetables and dry rations intended to feed military personnel, including during combat tasks, went missing from the warehouse.

The total amount of damage caused to the state exceeds UAH 3.5 million.

The accused currently continues military service as a driver in another military unit. He is charged with negligent performance of military service under martial law that resulted in serious consequences. The charge relates to part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The sanction of this article provides for up to 8 years imprisonment. Employees of the SBI are taking measures to ensure compensation for the damage caused to the state.

Procedural supervision in the proceedings is carried out by the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region.

Earlier in this case, the serviceman had already been notified of suspicion in the disappearance of foodstuffs from the military unit’s warehouse in the amount of approximately UAH 3.5 million.
