The liquor and vodka plant “Khortytsia” in Zaporizhzhia, which is part of the Global Spirits group, was effectively destroyed as a result of a Russian strike on 27 August 2026. The enterprise suffered four direct hits, after which a large fire burned for at least three hours. The company said the production complex can no longer be restored.

The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (OVA), Ivan Fedorov, on the day of the attack reported a strike on one of the enterprises in Zaporizhzhia. According to him, production premises were damaged and a fire broke out. Preliminary reports did not indicate any casualties. At the same time, Global Spirits clarified the scale of the destruction. As a result of the attack, the company lost approximately 3-4 million bottles of finished products for which excise tax had already been paid. Part of the goods were completely burned, and others melted due to high temperatures and now also require disposal.

According to the company’s own estimate, the average value per unit of lost product was about 100 hryvnias. Thus, finished goods alone may have been destroyed for approximately 300-400 million hryvnias. The full extent of losses from the loss of production buildings, equipment and other property has not yet been disclosed. It is also worth clarifying the type of weapon. In widespread reports the attack is called a strike by KABs, however in a confirmed statement Global Spirits refers to four direct hits, and the Zaporizhzhia OVA in its first message did not specify which weapon was used to attack the enterprise. Therefore, calling all four hits guided aerial bombs without additional official confirmation is premature.

One of the country’s largest alcohol plants

The liquor and vodka plant “Khortytsia” was one of Global Spirits’ key production sites. The first bottle rolled off the company’s conveyor as early as 2003. The plant employed more than 500 people, and the bottling lines’ output reached 16 bottles per second.

In addition to Khortytsia vodka, the plant produced products under the trademarks “Morosha”, “Pervak”, “Medova”, “Pshenychna Slyoza” and Gold Ukraine. Global Spirits calls the Khortytsia brand its flagship. This is not the company’s first major loss due to Russian strikes recently. On the night of 19 July 2026, a Russian missile completely destroyed Global Spirits’ main warehouse. Warehouse premises and inventory burned, and preliminary losses were estimated at more than 100 million hryvnias.

Now the production facilities themselves have been hit. Global Spirits says that the plant in Zaporizhzhia cannot be restored after the received damage.
