A Scania truck ran over a cyclist on a bridge in Mykolaiv
The injured person was hospitalized; investigators are establishing the circumstances of the traffic accident
25 August around 18:10 on the Pivdennobuzkyi Bridge in Mykolaiv a road traffic accident occurred involving a truck Scania R410 and a cyclist.
According to preliminary information, the 51-year-old truck driver failed to maintain a safe distance and struck the 63-year-old cyclist.
After the accident, medics hospitalized the victim. The man is currently in hospital.
Investigators have provisionally classified the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles. The provision carries up to three years of restriction of liberty with disqualification from driving for the same period.
Police are investigating all the circumstances of the crash.
