From 2,500 to 10,000 hryvnias: scholarships are being increased in Ukraine
The government doubled academic scholarships: full list of amounts
The Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to scholarship provision prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. From 1 September 2026, academic and named scholarships will double for learners in vocational, professional pre-higher and higher education. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
This applies to learners studying under state-funded places. The new payment amounts will apply in both public and private educational institutions. The state budget for 2026 allocates UAH 1.2 billion more for academic and named scholarships than last year.
From 1 September monthly payments will be:
- in vocational education institutions — 2,500 hryvnias instead of 1,250;
- in institutions of professional pre-higher education — 3,020 hryvnias instead of 1,510;
- in colleges for subjects with increased scholarship rates — 3,860 hryvnias instead of 1,930;
- in higher education institutions — 4,000 hryvnias instead of 2,000;
- in higher education institutions for specialties with increased payments — 5,100 hryvnias instead of 2,550.
“Doubling the payments makes state support more tangible and gives more opportunities to focus on studies and academic results,” said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykola Trofymenko.
Named and academic scholarships established by the Cabinet of Ministers will also double:
- for students of vocational education institutions — from 2,500 to 5,000 hryvnias;
- for students of institutions of professional pre-higher education — from 3,020 to 6,040 hryvnias;
- for students of higher education institutions — from 4,000 to 8,000 hryvnias.
New amounts for certain scholarships for winners of intellectual competitions:
- presidential scholarship for winners of national olympiads and the MAN contest-defense — 5,200 hryvnias;
- government scholarship for winners of the Ukrainian language and literature olympiad — 4,720 hryvnias;
- the Taras Shevchenko scholarship for school pupils — 5,440 hryvnias;
- presidential scholarship for winners of the Petro Yatsyk and Taras Shevchenko contests: for pupils — 2,840 hryvnias, college students — 5,740 hryvnias, university students — 7,600 hryvnias.
Presidential scholarships for the most gifted young artists will be:
- 2,500 hryvnias — for pupils of state art lyceums;
- 7,600 hryvnias — for students of institutions of professional pre-higher education;
- 10,000 hryvnias — for bachelor’s and master’s students.
The government also allowed paying academic scholarships to full-time postgraduate (PhD) students who study at private higher education institutions under state-funded places. Awarded payments will be retained for students participating in academic mobility programs if they meet the established conditions.
