A pistol, a stone and a broken motorcycle: patrol officers tracked down the attacker
Attack in the middle of the avenue: a girl was threatened with a weapon over motorcycle noise
In Mykolaiv a man allegedly threatened a girl riding a motorcycle with a pistol and then began hitting her vehicle with a brick. The incident occurred on Central Avenue. The incident was recounted by motorcyclist Sofiya Vilchynska on her Instagram. The information about the man being sought by patrol officers was confirmed by the police in a comment to “MykVistya”.
According to the woman, at about 21:30 she was riding along Central Avenue to a friend’s place. Suddenly a man ran out onto the roadway in front of her and began waving his arms. The motorcyclist stopped. Sofiya claims that the man held a large stone in one hand and an object resembling a pistol in the other. He pointed it at the girl and ordered:
“Get off the motorcycle”.
The woman laid the motorcycle on its side, took the phone attached to it and stepped away. After that the man began hitting the vehicle with a brick. Part of the incident Sofiya recorded on video and sent to fellow motorcyclists, who soon arrived at the scene. The Mykolaiv regional police have not yet released an official statement specifying the exact date and time of the incident.
The patrol police reported that by the time the crew arrived the man was already gone. Witnesses described his appearance, after which the patrol officers began checking nearby streets and yards. Shortly thereafter law enforcement officers noticed a man matching the description. He was handed over to investigators to establish all the circumstances.
According to Sofiya Vilchynska, at first the man denied having a pistol and said he was holding a stick. Later he allegedly admitted that he had a weapon and showed a storm drain where he had thrown it. As of the time of publication it had not been officially reported whether the pistol was found and seized, or whether it was a live firearm, a traumatic (less-lethal) or a pneumatic (air) gun. The police have also not yet disclosed the legal qualification of the incident.
The woman said the man explained his behavior by claiming that shortly before another motorcyclist with a loud exhaust had passed him at high speed. After that he allegedly decided to stop the next motorcycle. Sofiya emphasized that she was riding calmly and was not breaking any rules. After the incident she filed a report with the police and reported damage to the vehicle.
In Sofiya Vilchynska’s account the incident occurred on the evening of August 19, 2026 at about 21:30. At the same time the patrol police told “MykVistya” that the call came on August 18 at about 20:00.
The Mykolaiv regional police have not yet released an official statement specifying the exact date and time of the incident.
