19 August at around 20:20 at the signal-controlled intersection of Kyivska and Odeska streets in Voznesensk, a road traffic accident occurred involving a Daewoo Lanos, a Hyundai Ioniq and a cyclist.

The Daewoo Lanos was driven by a 27-year-old man, and the Hyundai Ioniq was driven by a 52-year-old woman. The cyclist sustained bodily injuries and was taken to a medical facility, where he later died. Preliminary reports indicate the man may have been intoxicated.

Police are currently clarifying all circumstances of the crash and are identifying the deceased. The man appears to be about 40–45 years old. He has short dark hair, a short-trimmed beard and mustache. He has large tattoos of a spider and an owl on both hands, and a string with a wooden cross around his neck. He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

Investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles that caused the death of the victim. The article’s sanction provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.

The police ask witnesses of the accident and anyone who may know anything about its circumstances or the identity of the deceased to contact 099-725-23-00 or 102.
