Two killed and dozens injured: Zelensky spoke about strikes on Ukraine
More than 3,000 munitions a week: strengthening air defenses is vital
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the consequences of Russian strikes on Odesa, Kharkiv, Pavlohrad and other regions. The head of state published the relevant information on his Telegram channel August 9, 2026.
In Odesa and the region, repair work continues after a strike on the energy infrastructure. Specialists are trying to restore power to people. Also, as a result of the nighttime attack residential buildings and the port were damaged. There are eight people injured, and all are receiving necessary assistance.
In Kharkiv a Russian drone hit a residential high-rise and destroyed four floors. As a result of the attack two people were killed, and dozens were injured.
In Pavlohrad the enemy struck near a shopping center and the energy infrastructure. Nine people were injured, including four children.
Also under Russian strikes were Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Kherson, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions.
According to the president, just over the past week Russia used 61 missiles of various types against Ukraine, of which 56 followed a ballistic trajectory. The enemy also used more than 1,560 strike drones and 1,540 guided aerial bombs.
Zelenskyy emphasized the need to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia and to increase the number of air defense systems for Ukraine.
