In Mykolaiv region, a truck, a bus and a Ford collided: the driver of the car died

6 August at around 16:00 on the highway «Odesa – Melitopol – Novoazovsk» near the village of Polovynky of the Vesnyanska community a road traffic accident occurred involving three vehicles. As a result of the collision the driver of the passenger car died, and his passenger was injured.

The crash involved a truck VOLVO FH 12 with a semi-trailer driven by a 64-year-old man, a SETRA bus driven by a 38-year-old driver who was operating regular passenger services, and a FORD BRONCO SPORT car driven by a 60-year-old man.

Rescuers extricated the FORD driver. He and the 58-year-old passenger were hospitalized. The man died from his injuries.

The drivers of the truck and the bus, as well as the seven passengers who were on the bus at the time of the collision, were not injured.

Police detained the 64-year-old driver of the VOLVO in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the department for the investigation of transport crimes of the investigative department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of vehicles by persons operating vehicles, which caused the death of a victim.

The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment for up to eight years with possible disqualification from driving for up to three years.

At present, police are establishing all circumstances and causes of the accident. A decision is being made on whether to notify the truck driver of suspicion.
