The event was held without coordination with the military and local authorities
In Kyiv Oblast, after an attack by Russian ballistic missiles on July 24, the chief organizer of a weapons exhibition was detained and has been notified of suspicion.
According to the investigation, one of the weapons associations, without coordinating with the military command and local authorities, held a large-scale outdoor event with the participation of servicemen, representatives of state institutions, international partners and businesses.
More than 300 participants were invited to the open location, while the nearest shelter, measuring only 34 sq. m, was located approximately 100 meters from the site.
As a result of the strike, 10 people were killed and about 100 were injured; among the victims the youngest was 19 years old.
The key organizer has been detained; he is accused of an offence under part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the court is to determine a preventive measure shortly. Due to his injuries, he is being held under guard in a medical facility.
Law enforcement conducted searches in the association’s office and at the residences of persons believed to be involved in organizing the event, and are also checking the actions or inaction of officials who were supposed to respond to the existing risks.
