In Pervomaisk, 1,500 US dollars and 200 euros were stolen from the apartment of a 48-year-old man. The money disappeared from a hiding place while the homeowner was resting.
A report about the theft of savings in foreign currency was received on the 102 hotline from a resident of the district center.
At the scene, police established that before the theft the claimant had been drinking alcoholic beverages with an unfamiliar young man near a local supermarket. Afterwards the 48-year-old invited him to his apartment, where they continued to drink.
When the owner went to rest, the guest took 1,500 dollars and 200 euros from the hiding place and disappeared. A few hours later officers found the man on one of the city’s streets.
The suspect turned out to be a 19-year-old resident of the Kirovohrad region who has no permanent place of residence and had previously come to the attention of law enforcement. During investigative actions, officers seized the stolen funds from him.
Under the procedural guidance of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators notified the man of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — theft committed under martial law. He faces up to eight years in prison.
Law enforcement is also checking his possible involvement in similar crimes. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
