The United States carried out a new large-scale series of strikes on the territory of Iran after attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time Washington revoked a license that allowed the sale of Iranian oil, and President Donald Trump said the ceasefire regime had ended and the negotiation process with Tehran had effectively collapsed.

This was reported on 7 July 2026 by the agency Reuters.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), U.S. forces struck more than 80 targets. The strikes hit air defense systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar stations, as well as anti-ship missile systems.

In addition, in the area of the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. forces attacked more than 60 small boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In CENTCOM they said the operation was aimed at destroying Iran’s ability to carry out attacks on international commercial shipping.

Explosions were heard on the islands of Kharg and Qeshm, as well as in the southern port cities of Sirik and Bandar Abbas. Iranian state media reported several people wounded by debris in Sirik, damage to berths and fires on fishing boats.

At the same time, U.S. command did not confirm reports of a strike on the island of Kharg, where the country’s main oil export terminal is located.

In Washington they said the operation was a response to attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz or were near it. According to preliminary U.S. information, Iranian forces opened fire on the civilian ships. Iran denies its involvement in these attacks.

At the same time, the U.S. reinstated tough sanctions on Iran’s oil sector. The previously issued license allowed the sale of crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemical goods of Iranian origin until 21 August 2026. After its revocation, all operations already under way must be completed by 17 July 2026, and the signing of new contracts is prohibited.

Against the backdrop of the new escalation, President Donald Trump said the ceasefire regime between the U.S. and Iran is no longer in effect. According to him, negotiations with Tehran have lost all meaning, and the diplomatic path to resolve the conflict is now effectively exhausted.

⚡️ They are liars, frauds, sick people: Trump said that for him the ceasefire in Iran is over

This statement indicates the definitive end of the truce period between the parties and may mean a further expansion of military confrontation in the region through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supplies pass.
