"We'll dismiss them and immediately notify the military enlistment offices": Senkevych threatened his subordinates
The mayor criticized the work of "Mykolaivvodokanal"
The mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Senkevych sharply criticized employees of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivvodokanal” for poor restoration of areas after repairs. He suggested dismissing unscrupulous employees and immediately notifying the Territorial Recruitment Centers (TCK) about it, since part of the staff have mobilization reservations.
The mayor said this during an administrative meeting on 6 July 2026. The company director Hennadiy Izumov, together with the relevant deputies, was invited to a separate meeting on 8 July dedicated to the quality of the works.
According to the mayor, after excavations in the city there are ground subsidence, unrepaired paving slabs, curbstones and litter left behind. He emphasized that employees must not only eliminate emergencies but also fully restore the area to proper condition.
“Maybe for your employees digging a hole, throwing a curbstone onto the roadside, backfilling it and tamping it down with their feet is normal. But we have standards, and we must put everything in order. Our task is to teach these people, who clean everything up after themselves there, to do it well”, — noted Oleksandr Senkevych.
The mayor said that employees need to be motivated to follow the standards, and those who systematically perform poor work should be dismissed. At the same time, he used harsh rhetoric when talking about the possible notification of the TCK after a worker loses their reservation.
“We will have to beat them – so we will dismiss them. If they understand without beatings, we will work with them. But with your employees everything is very simple, a very good idea: if they work poorly, we can dismiss them today and immediately notify the TCK about the dismissal of these people”, – said the mayor.
Oleksandr Senkevych added that working at the municipal enterprise and the possibility of having a reservation should be an additional motivation for conscientious performance of duties.
“If they do not value either their salary — it is too small for them — nor the fact that they have a job, and do not value the possibility of being reserved, then we will find them a job where they can dig such great trenches with embankments, scatter stones — nobody watches over that. We will find them a great job, and they will be paid properly, starting from 30 thousand hryvnias up to 100. I am not joking now, I am speaking seriously. Because it seems to me that someone does not understand all the ‘charms’ of their job in the city”, – said the mayor.
No specific decisions about dismissing employees were announced during the meeting. The water utility’s management was instructed to tighten control over network repairs, restoration of road and sidewalk surfaces, and cleaning of the areas.
