Motorcyclist and passenger killed at the scene: details of the nighttime accident
Police are seeking witnesses to a crash that claimed two lives
On the night of 30 June 2026 in Voznesensk, a road traffic accident occurred involving a VAZ-21099 car and a Kawasaki motorcycle. As a result of the collision, a 20-year-old motorcyclist and his 19-year-old passenger were killed. This was reported by the Mykolaiv region police.
The crash occurred at around 01:00 on Kyyivska Street. Police noted that the car driver showed signs of intoxication. After an examination at a medical facility, 0.39‰ of alcohol was found in his system.
The VAZ driver sustained moderate injuries and is under medical supervision. Investigators detained a 22-year-old man in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
A criminal proceeding was opened under Part 4 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules by a person operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The article’s sanction provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with a ban on driving vehicles for a period of up to 10 years.
