Mykolaiv received a specialized vehicle for transporting people with disabilities who use wheelchairs.
This was reported on 25 June 2025 by the Mykolaiv City Council.
The vehicle was handed over to the city by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which has supported communities in Mykolaiv Oblast since 2022, including vulnerable population groups.
The vehicle was built on the base of a Citroën Berlingo L2 and equipped as a specialized vehicle «CROS СВ». The cabin includes a secure wheelchair restraint system, so the passenger does not need to transfer to a regular seat.
The vehicle was handed over to the Mykolaiv City Territorial Center for Social Services.
Present at the handover were First Deputy Mayor Vitalii Lukov, head of the IRC’s southern office in Ukraine Shana Peifer, Director of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Serhii Vasylenko, Director of the Territorial Center Serhii Bondarenko, staff and recipients of social services.
Vitalii Lukov thanked the international partners and noted that the new vehicle should make moving around the city more convenient for Mykolaiv residents with disabilities.
“I remember the time when people with disabilities rarely appeared on the streets because it was inconvenient and uncomfortable. I am glad that, thanks to the support of our partners, we are making these people’s lives freer. Thank you for the help. Together we are becoming stronger and more humane”, — he said.
The head of the IRC’s southern office, Shana Peifer, thanked the city authorities for their cooperation and assured that the organization will continue to support the Mykolaiv community.
