The Vinnytsia City Court in Vinnytsia issued an in absentia verdict against the former People’s Artist of Ukraine and ex-deputy from the banned Party of Regions, Taisia Povaliy: 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that prosecutors of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved in court that after 2014 the singer left for Russia and systematically supported the aggressor state.
According to the case materials, she participated in propaganda events, justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, spread anti‑Ukrainian narratives, and regularly appeared in Russian propaganda media.
In addition to imprisonment, the court imposed an additional punishment — a ban on holding positions specified by law for 15 years.
After the Revolution of Dignity the artist has been residing in Moscow, continues her stage activity and in 2023 obtained Russian citizenship; she took part in concerts supporting the so‑called SVO and in events dedicated to the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territories.
The confiscated property was transferred to state revenue: land plots, real estate in the Kyiv Oblast, vehicles, weapons, as well as property rights to 9 musical works.
Rights to these musical works were officially registered to the state of Ukraine in 2025.
