From 11 to 15 May 2026, inspection raids of trade and service sector establishments were carried out in the Korabelnyi district of the city of Mykolaiv to check compliance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language”.

The checks were carried out by specialists from the Trade and Entrepreneurship Coordination Department of the Administration of the Korabelnyi District of the Mykolaiv City Council.

During the raids on the territory of the district, 18 establishments were inspected. As a result of the inspections, one violation was found and one warning was issued. Two other institutions were not conducting business activity at the time of inspection.

Explanatory talks were held with the entrepreneurs. They were reminded that outdoor advertising, announcements, pointers, signs and other publicly displayed textual, visual and audio information about goods, works or services must be provided in the state language. Also, the language for serving consumers in Ukraine is the state language.

Business entities were warned about administrative liability for violating the requirements of the law. If entrepreneurs refuse to bring their activities into compliance with the legislation and continue to violate citizens’ rights, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, pursuant to Art.57 of the Law, may issue a warning or apply punitive sanctions.

According to Art.188-52 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (КУпАП), for the first violation a warning or a fine from 3,400 UAH to 8,500 UAH is provided. For a repeat violation within a year the fine ranges from 8,500 UAH to 11,900 UAH.
