Outbreak of intestinal infection at a Mykolaiv kindergarten: three children confirmed to have acute intestinal infection
The report was received on April 20 from the regional center for disease control; epidemiologists are inspecting food handling and storage and conducting laboratory tests on the source
In Mykolaiv, an outbreak of an acute intestinal infection has been recorded among pupils of one of the kindergartens: a signal to law enforcement was received on April 20 from the regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Information about the received notification and subsequent actions by law enforcement was provided by the Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police.
According to preliminary data, an acute intestinal infection was confirmed in 3 children, after which the parents sought medical help.
2 children were hospitalized, and another 1 child is being treated as an outpatient. All those affected are receiving the necessary assistance, and doctors are monitoring their condition.
On this basis, law enforcement has initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 325 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — on signs of violation of sanitary rules and norms aimed at preventing infectious diseases and mass poisonings.
Epidemiologists are conducting a range of sanitary-epidemiological measures and laboratory studies to establish the source of the infection. They are checking the quality of food, product storage conditions, the sanitary condition of the premises, and staff compliance with norms.
The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the causes of the children’s infection.
