Fled and left him to die: near Mykolaiv, a driver hit an 88-year-old pedestrian and disappeared
"Didn't notice" and drove off: how a driver left a pensioner on the road
In the Mykolaiv district police identified the driver who, after hitting a pedestrian, left the scene of the accident. This was reported by the Mykolaiv region police on April 19, 2026. Law enforcement officers located the minibus driver and stopped him in the village of Kobleve.
The road traffic accident occurred on April 18, 2026 at about 14:30 on the “Mykolaiv-Odesa” highway near the village of Vesnyane. According to preliminary data, a 43-year-old driver of a Toyota Hiace struck an 88-year-old man who was crossing the roadway in an unmarked place. After that the driver left the scene, leaving the injured person without assistance. The victim with bodily injuries was hospitalized by medics. According to doctors, his condition is assessed as severe.
Investigators classified the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
