Bribe for municipal property: an official in Mykolaiv region was caught "red-handed"
Municipal property for cash: an official demanded money for "necessary" decisions
According to the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, April 10 2026 a director of one of the municipal enterprises of the Pervomaisk City Council was notified of suspicion. He is suspected of extortion and receiving an unlawful benefit under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation established that the official demanded from an entrepreneur UAH 80,000 for concluding a lease agreement for municipal property without holding the mandatory auction. In addition, it was planned to enter fictitious information regarding the area of the object, which would have allowed the scheme to be implemented on terms favorable to the tenant. The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine immediately after receiving the first part of the bribe in the amount of UAH 40,000. The operation was conducted under the control of law enforcement officers who documented the transfer of funds.
At the request of the prosecution, the court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect — detention with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of UAH 266,240.
