Mykolaiv runs: young athletes collected medals like mushrooms after the rain
Pride of the city: young athletes won gold at nationwide competitions
Recently in the city of Mukachevo the first stage of the all‑Ukrainian athletics competition “Athletics Triathlon Festival” among boys and girls took place. According to the Mykolaiv City Council, pupils of Mykolaiv sports schools proudly represented the city and won four medals in various age categories.
Among the youngest participants (born in 2015 and younger)
- the victory in the triathlon (60 m run, 50 m hurdles, 300 m) was won by Anna Obukhova;
- in the 2013–2014 birth year category Oleksandr Yakubovskyi distinguished himself, becoming first in the triathlon (60 m run, high jump and long jump);
- silver in the 2013–2014 age group was won by Nikita Moldovan (60 m run, 50 m hurdles, 300 m);
- and Yana Levicheva received the bronze medal (60 m run, high jump and long jump).
The young athletes were coached for the competitions by Alla Kovpak, Marina Chumachenko, Viktoriia Kilyarska, Hanna Kolisnyk, Olha Dvorak, Kateryna Nikitina and Iryna Shapovalova.
In addition, April 4–5, 2026 in Kyiv the Ukrainian road running championships in athletics among adults, youth and juniors took place. At the 1 mile distance the Mykolaiv athlete Varvara Kryvulia took 1st place among juniors, 2nd place among youth and 5th place overall among women. Her performance was prepared by coach Viktoriia Kilyarska.
