As reported by the Mykolaiv City Council on April 6, 2026, during a staff meeting the director of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans” Dmytro Danilenko, who has led the company for two months, presented the actual state of affairs and outlined key problems.

According to him, the fleet numbers 70 buses, but only 35 go out on routes daily. Another 19 vehicles require repairs. The company services 4 permanent and 2 temporary routes, and the total number of employees is 219 people.

Separately, the head emphasized that the company finished 2025 with losses, which indicates serious managerial problems. Among the main shortcomings:

unsatisfactory condition of the premises,
lack of proper conditions for vehicle repairs,
critical violations of working conditions (no showers, changing rooms, or protective clothing),
procurement issues, in particular the use of cash funds.

In addition, the company lacks a full accounting of passenger flows and preferential transportation, since only 28 buses are equipped with cameras. Proper control over fuel usage is also not maintained, which has already led to a shortage of diesel.

“Right now it is important for us to conduct a full analysis of passenger flows and the operation of buses on routes. Based on the results we will make decisions regarding the optimization of existing routes and the possible launch of new ones. We also plan to introduce procurement management standards and policies to increase transparency and compliance with the law. This is what should have been done anyway,” – said Dmytro Danilenko.

It was also noted separately that the ineffective tender for the construction of an inspection pit was canceled to optimize costs.
