In Mykolaiv, the situation around the development of the green zone on Kobera Street has flared up again. Local residents are once more taking to protests, stating that they already defended this space back in 2015, but the developer is again trying to implement its project.

Recall that for new construction of a refueling complex with an LPG filling station (AGZP) and a service shop for drivers and passengers in the green zone near the plant “Zorya”-“Mashproekt”, the developer – LLC “World of Health”, – plans to destroy almost 200 oak trees.

The problem was reported on April 4, 2026 by Member of Parliament Ihor Kopytin, who stated that he intervened in the situation and sent an appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko demanding a check of the legality of the development. He also said the matter was discussed with Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych.

According to the deputy, city development must take into account the interests of the community, especially if residents have consistently opposed construction for years. He emphasized that this story has been going on for about 10 years, and for people this issue is not only about amenities but also about safety and quality of life.

Oleksandr Haidu

It is worth recalling that Member of Parliament Oleksandr Vasylyovych Haidu was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in the single-member constituency No. 128 in Mykolaiv Oblast. According to official resources of the Verkhovna Rada and the CEC, this constituency includes the Korabelnyi District of the city of Mykolaiv, Leninskyi District (now — Inhulskyi),. That is why the area around Kobera Street, where the conflict over the development of the green zone has flared up again, belongs to the constituency represented in Parliament by Oleksandr Haidu.

Local residents insist that the green zone is the only place for recreation, walks, and a safe space for children. They demand to stop the development and take their position into account, which has remained unchanged for many years. The situation remains tense, and the legality of the construction needs to be evaluated at the state level following the appeal to the government.
