In Mykolaiv, new benches on the playground are sagging under adults
Municipal workers asked to close the complaint, while residents are demanding labeling indicating the permissible weight
In Mykolaiv, municipal workers of DEZ «Pilot» explained that the benches on the playground are intended for children aged from 3 to 12 years and are rated for weight up to 80 kilograms; the response was published in the Contact Center at the City Council group after a complaint about the playground at 8 Hennadiy Matulyak Street.
The discussion was prompted by a post from a local resident who drew attention to the fact that the benches installed on the playground sag under the weight of a single adult, which raises doubts about their reliability.
The author of the complaint gave her own example while testing one of the benches.
“My weight is 82 kg… The bench on the playground creaks and sags under me. Then ‘Mykolaiv Parks’ will write that vandals broke the new benches? So, maybe it would be better to install benches right away that can withstand an adult’s weight?”
The rapid response service published an answer from PC DEZ «Pilot», which states that the installed benches comply with the technical specifications TU U 32.3-39069054-001:2024, are intended for children from 3 to 12 years old and are rated for loads up to 80 kg. The company also suggested closing the inquiry.
After that, the author of the post asked to mark all elements of the playground, including the benches, with information about the permissible weight of users to avoid misunderstandings.
Concluding the discussion, local resident Olena Skidan reacted emotionally to the arguments about the benches’ intended use.
“I understand there is no point in discussing who usually sits on the benches at playgrounds. I sincerely wish that the playground planners would have their relatives stand over the sandbox for two hours.”
