Documentary film from the GUR: Agent "Sveta" — a woman who operated in Enerhodar for more than three years
Years of risk and one rescue operation: what lies behind the story of a female HUR agent
In the documentary film “Agent ‘Sveta'” the special unit GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine “Shamanbat” reveals for the first time details of a long-term intelligence operation in temporarily occupied territory.
At the center of the story is a woman with a Russian passport who, for more than three years operated in Enerhodar, effectively under the control of Russian security services. Under the direction of Ukrainian intelligence officers she collected information on the locations of equipment, depots, headquarters, and troop movements.
“I simply brought from one point what I was told, carried it to another point. I walked around the places where I needed to see or check something. I reported what I saw: where equipment was located, where troops gathered, where they were most often,” the agent reported.
The data she collected were used to strike targets by Ukrainian forces. Later, Russian troops detained the agent at the entrance to the city. She was taken “to the cellar” and underwent interrogations, but did not reveal her connection to the Ukrainian side. After her release she informed the intelligence officers about the situation, and they immediately began preparing an evacuation. The operation to rescue her lasted two days. Special forces reached the outskirts of the city by water and by land, extracted the agent and delivered her to territory controlled by Ukraine.
“A command was given to the reconnaissance group to plan, assemble, and equip with special means. The guys who were offered to do this job didn’t even have questions about whether they could refuse such a task,” said the intelligence officer “Triangle”, the operation’s commander.
According to the military, the operation became an example of the principle — not leaving your own even in the most dangerous conditions.
“When we had driven a little further, to safer places, and when she met in person those operative officers who had been messaging with her for three years, she recognized by voice that it was them. They hugged, and then we exhaled and understood that the mission was accomplished,” said “SID”, commander of the assault group that extracted the agent.
GUR once again demonstrates Ukrainians’ ability to resist and fight the Russian occupiers:
“We never abandon people who trusted us, because these are our people who have been working for three years. I won’t say it’s favoritism; I’ll say it’s simply human relationships, how a person helps another person,” emphasized “Triangle”.
