A nighttime drive ended fatally: an Opel failed to make the turn and knocked down a fence

In the night of March 23, 2026 a fatal road traffic accident occurred in the Voznesenskyi district on the territory of the Domanivka community. At about 00:10 in the village of Martynivka a car ran off the road and crashed into obstacles, as a result of which the driver was killed.

According to preliminary police data, a 40-year-old man, driving an Opel Zafira Tourer, was traveling along Kyrtka Street. For unknown reasons he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, where he first collided with a power pole and then crashed into the fence of a private property.

The injuries proved to be incompatible with life — the driver died at the scene of the accident. A 36-year-old female passenger was also in the vehicle; after being examined by medics she refused hospitalization.

Investigators have opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of road safety rules that caused the death of a victim. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy, including the technical condition of the vehicle, its speed, and possible external factors.

The police are asking citizens who may have witnessed the accident or possess any information to report details by phone 099-725-23-00 or 102.
