The start of infestation by concealed weevils has been recorded in rapeseed crops in Mykolaiv region; the regional Directorate of Phytosanitary Safety of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection reported this based on monitoring results.

According to the agency, fields show activity of the cabbage stem weevil and the large rape weevil.

The economic threshold of harmfulness is 2–3 individuals/m². For monitoring using trap cups, a daily catch of 3–4 specimens or a total of 10 individuals over 3 days is considered critical.

The statement emphasizes the need for continuous monitoring of crops and timely protective treatments, taking into account the temperature conditions for applying products.

“To prevent plant damage, it is recommended to establish continuous monitoring of crops and, if necessary, promptly organize the implementation of protective measures. Treatments should be carried out when optimal temperature conditions for the application of products are met”
